Tragic Shooting on 103rd Street in Jacksonville: Victim Succumbs to Injuries at Hospital, Reports JSO

Authorities from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office transported several people to the downtown Police Memorial Building for questioning.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man succumbed to gunshot wounds at a Jacksonville hospital on Wednesday night after being shot on 103rd Street in the city’s Westside, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Matthews of the JSO stated that officers responded to reports of gunfire near the 9800 block of 103rd Street at approximately 7:45 p.m. En route, they discovered that the injured man had been transported to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle.

Tragically, the man passed away soon after arriving at the medical facility.

As of Thursday, the details surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Matthews mentioned that multiple individuals were brought in for interviews at the Police Memorial Building. The investigation is being carried out by the JSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene Units, in collaboration with the State Attorney’s Office.

“We believe that this is an isolated incident and there is no additional threat to the community,” Matthews said.
