Authorities from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office have confirmed that several individuals are being interviewed at the Police Memorial Building in connection with a recent shooting incident.

In Jacksonville, Florida, a tragic incident unfolded on the city’s Westside late Wednesday, resulting in the death of one man and leaving another injured. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has been actively investigating the case.

Sgt. Matthews of the JSO reported that officers were dispatched to the 750 block of Edgewood Avenue North around 8:10 p.m. following reports of gunfire.

Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered two men in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Sadly, one of the men succumbed to his injuries while the other remains in stable condition, according to Matthews.

In a statement to First Coast News, Matthews indicated that several individuals are currently being questioned at the Police Memorial Building as part of the ongoing investigation.

“At this time, the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated,” Matthews said. “Due to this, the classification of the incident is pending. We will continue to investigate and coordinate our efforts with the Medical Examiner’s Office and State Attorney’s Office. We believe that this is an isolated incident and there is no additional threat to the community.”
