On Monday night, a dramatic scene unfolded in Orange Park, Florida, as a Jacksonville man sought urgent medical assistance at the Winn-Dixie on Blanding Boulevard. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office provided new insights on Tuesday into the events that led to a significant police response at the supermarket.
Authorities reported that the man, identified as 38-year-old Billy Clark Foster, had been stabbed multiple times during an altercation at a nearby apartment complex. After the incident, Foster managed to make his way to the parking lot of the Winn-Dixie, located at 1339 Blanding Blvd., in a desperate bid for help.
The sheriff’s office detailed that deputies were dispatched to the scene around 8:40 p.m. following reports of a man inside a vehicle, suffering from visible stab wounds and in need of immediate assistance. The investigation revealed that the altercation took place in the parking lot of Cypress Pointe Apartments, situated just across the street from the Winn-Dixie at 25 Knight Boxx Rd.
The incident has left the community shaken, as authorities continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case, aiming to bring clarity and justice to the situation.
The sheriff’s office said its preliminary investigation indicates that the man, identified as 38-year-old Billy Clark Foster, was involved in an altercation in the parking lot of Cypress Pointe Apartments, located at 25 Knight Boxx Rd., which is directly across the street from the Winn-Dixie.
During the altercation, Foster was stabbed multiple times before driving to the store in an “apparent attempt to seek help,” CCSO said. Deputies and Clay County Fire Rescue responded and provided Foster medical treatment, as he was then taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The individual who called 911 reportedly discovered Foster while passing by and is not believed to be involved in the incident, CCSO said.
Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the altercation, according to CCSO.
