The House may soon consider a Senate-approved bill aimed at reopening the federal government, possibly as early as Wednesday. This development comes amid critical disruptions in air travel due to severe shortages in air traffic control staffing, which have led to widespread flight delays and cancellations across the country.
The government shutdown, now entering its sixth week, has put immense pressure on various sectors. In a breakthrough move, the Senate voted 60-40 on Monday to approve a legislative package designed to extend current government funding until January and bring back furloughed federal employees. This bill also allocates funds for food assistance and veterans benefits programs through September 30, 2026.
For those affected by flight issues, this legislative relief can’t arrive soon enough.
