Trans Trudeau aide defends running female race and beating girl, 12

A transgender aide to the minister for women in Justin Trudeau’s administration has come forward to justify her involvement in a race where she claimed the title of ‘fastest female’ by defeating a 12 year-old girl.

In February 2024, Nathanielle Morin secured victory in a 5km road race for women in Ottawa, Ontario, finishing almost six minutes ahead of her closest competitor in the 30-39 age bracket with a time of 25 minutes and 32 seconds.

Despite concerns raised due to the significant time gap, it is important to note that the 12 year-old Saorise Hoogenraad was the second fastest female runner overall that day, clocking in at 26 minutes and eight seconds, albeit in a different age group compared to Morin.

But the runner-up in Morin’s age category, Maude Bisson, finished a full five minutes 44 seconds behind Morin, in 31 minutes 16 seconds.

The gaps between Bisson and the third, fourth and fifth place runners up were much smaller than between Bisson and Morin.

None of the women Morin beat commented on her win. But critics say the enormous differences between her time and the runners-up in her category just how unfair her participation is.

Morin, a Liberal advisor to Canada’s women’s minister Marci Ien, subsequently took to X to defend her participation.

The aide, who earns $140,000 CAD ($99,000 USD) repeatedly insisted she was but an ‘amateur’ running an ‘amateur’ race in an apparent attempt to mitigate allegations of unfairness.

She moaned: ‘For me, running is meditation, therapy and self-improvement.

‘I am aware that my participation in so many competitions is and will be talked about because of my medical history.’

Taking aim at President Trump’s ban on trans women from female sports, she continued: ‘The situation in the United States and the comments of certain politicians do not help either.’

Morin said; ‘With all due respect to the level I compete at (amateur recreational), the state of scientific research in the field (for the amateur recreational level) and the fact that I have undergone a medical transition, I consider that I have the legitimacy to participate in the right category, unless the law prohibits me from doing so.

‘Let us remember that in Canada, no law prohibits it. As for other countries, I will comply with the local laws in force when it applies.

‘Nevertheless, I remain sensitive to questions relating to the notions of sporting equity and recognize how lucky I am to be able to be welcomed in the right category in Canada.

‘I remain open and attentive to new scientific data that could emerge on the issue of trans women in sports.

‘Let’s keep amateur recreational sports respectful, inclusive and safe for all, whether cis, trans or non-binary.’

Morin says she plans to run nine races in 2025.

After President Trump’s executive order banning transgender athletes from competing in women’s divisions, Morin hit out, insisting: ‘Exclusion and discrimination should not be the answer to transwomen in sport.

‘This is a sensitive topic, and some people have concerns that should be heard. However, there are better ways to assess those in a healthy way that does not promote hate.’

Despite claiming to be open to concerns over trans women in female sports, Morin shared a ‘facts’ on X on February 6 claiming that trans women have no advantage over their biological female counterparts.

The bizarre assertion continued: ‘Consider that when men are good, they are praised. (e.g. Michael Phelps).

‘But when women – especially marginalized (Black or Brown and/or trans) women are good, they are accused of being unfair.’

Morin has claimed that trans women competing against biological women in sports is just another form of ‘variation’ that means some biological women are taller or stronger than others.

Research into trans women in sports continues, but many respected scientists say that going through male puberty before transitioning lends trans athletes a huge physiological advantage over biological females.

Trump’s order uses Title IX, a law against sex discrimination in taxpayer-funded education programs, to ban transgender girls and women from participating in female school sports activities.

Trump said his new Secretary of State Marco Rubio ‘is going to make clear to the International Olympic Committee’ that ‘America categorically rejects transgender lunacy.’

‘We want them to change everything having to do with the Olympics and having to do with this absolutely ridiculous subject,’ Trump went on.

In response, the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) adapted new rules that will only allow people to compete in women’s sports if they were assigned female at birth.
