Tyler Robinson defense pushes for 2029 trial start date
Attorney Alex Swoyer joins Fox & Friends First to preview the upcoming pretrial hearing in the murder case involving Charlie Kirk. Defendant Tyler Robinson faces multiple charges in Utah County, including aggravated murder and felony discharge of a firearm. Swoyer outlines the expected timelines for both prosecutors and the defense as Erika Kirk pushes for the trial to begin as soon as possible.
President Donald Trump on Friday sharply criticized the judge overseeing the Utah case involving the assassination of Charlie Kirk, accusing him of doing a “terrible job.”
“The judge in the Charlie Kirk case is doing a terrible job! This case should be tried within a month, not three years — and it should be over with! The judge is desecrating the memory of the Great Charlie Kirk, while taking forever to ask questions that people already know the answer to. The whole Country is mocking him and our ‘Legal’ System. JUSTICE FOR CHARLIE!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Trump’s remarks followed a proposal from Robinson’s defense team that would tentatively set the trial to begin in the third quarter of 2029.
Robinson is scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.
This is a developing story.
