The Trump administration is actively crafting a proposal to introduce 50-year mortgage terms for prospective homeowners, according to Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Bill Pulte, who made the announcement on Saturday.
Pulte took to the social media platform X to share the news, stating, “Thanks to President Trump, we are indeed working on The 50 year Mortgage — a complete game changer.”
This announcement came on the heels of a Truth Social post by President Trump, which featured a graphic comparing him to former President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt’s administration is credited with establishing the 30-year mortgage as part of the New Deal to assist Americans during the recovery from the Great Depression.
