President Trump said Friday the U.S. would host the 2026 Group of 20 (G20) summit at his golf club near Miami, further blurring the lines between the government and his businesses.

“I think that everybody wants it here because it’s right next to the airport. It’s the best location. It’s beautiful everything,” Trump said in the Oval Office.

“We will not make any money on it,” he added. “I think it’ll be really a beautiful thing. And Doral’s been very, very successful. One of the most successful properties in the country.”

Trump said each country would have its own building on the property.

The president previously sought to host the 2020 Group of Seven (G7) summit at his Doral resort. He later shifted the location to Camp David in the face of backlash from Democrats, ethics watchdogs and some Republicans. The 2020 G7 was eventually scrapped amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump said the G20 agenda would be set by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

“What’s important about the G20, President Trump’s America First initiative does not mean America alone, it means America leads,” Bessent said, adding the event would showcase the beginning of Trump’s second term.

The president also said he would not attend this year’s G20, which is taking place in South Africa. Trump has clashed with South African leaders over allegations of genocide targeting white farmers, which South Africa’s president has pushed back on. Trump said Vice President JD Vance would attend in his place.
