Ukraine did not inform President Trump ahead of its major drone attack on Russia, an administration official tells .

According to an administration official, the president was not given a heads-up about the drone attack that a Ukrainian security official alleged destroyed more than 40 planes well within Russian territory, according to The Associated Press.

In the first few months of his second term, Trump and his administration have pushed for an end to the war between Ukraine and Russia. The war, which began during former President Biden’s term, recently passed the three-year mark.

Trump, who has previously talked positively about Russian President Vladimir Putin, has recently expressed frustration with the Russian leader.

“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!” Trump said last week on his Truth Social platform.

The AP reported Sunday that the Ukrainian attack was worked on for one and a half years, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky personally supervising it, per the security official.

“We are doing everything to protect our independence, our state, and our people. I outlined the tasks for the near term,” Zelensky said in a post on the social platform X on Sunday.
