ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE—President Donald Trump embarked on his inaugural trip to Asia during his term on Friday night, setting the stage for discussions on investment and peace initiatives. The highlight of his journey will be a face-to-face meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, aimed at easing the ongoing trade tensions between the two economic giants.
“There’s much to discuss with President Xi, and he has plenty to discuss with us,” Trump remarked to reporters as he departed the White House. “I’m optimistic about our upcoming meeting.”
The President is set for a lengthy flight, with his arrival in Malaysia scheduled for Sunday morning. Malaysia marks the first of three destinations on his whirlwind tour.
