President Donald Trump launched a lengthy attack on comedian Bill Maher, devoting roughly 1,300 words to the dispute in a post on Truth Social.
Writing Sunday night, Trump called Maher a “complete and total loser,” just days after the pair shared a dinner at the White House.
“Let’s talk about this COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER, Bill Maher,” Trump wrote. “He’s got a Low Rated Show on equally Low Rated HBO.”
Trump also referenced his past work on The Apprentice and claimed Maher had repeatedly sought an appearance by the president on Real Time with Bill Maher.
“When I became President, I agreed to meet, after the first one, and the last one, but never agreed to do his show, which he wants me to do, DESPERATELY — It won’t happen!” Trump said.
“When I have watched the show, which isn’t often, it always ends with dishonesty, about me at least, but, who cares?”
Trump accused Maher of relying on “Fake Polls” after the comedian claimed the president was experiencing his lowest ratings and had lost support among Republicans.
“I have High Ratings and, more importantly, he said that I’m losing the support and approval of the Republican Party when, in fact, CNN just came out with a Poll showing that I’m at 98 and 99% support within the Republican Party, an All Time Record High,” Trump wrote.
Trump called Maher a liar and questioned the laughter that follows many of the comedian’s remarks. “Bill Maher lied, but he lies about everything,” he wrote, adding that he believed Maher had also misled him when asked what “Laughter Machine” produced the audience reaction on his show.

Revisiting the White House dinner, which included musician Kid Rock and ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith, Trump said he viewed the gathering positively. “Overall, I thought it was a good meeting,” he wrote. “It didn’t last four hours, it lasted two hours, maybe less, and everybody was happy.”
Trump said Maher had initially been cordial and that their first meeting ended with both sides satisfied. He claimed Maher then returned to his usual style after making what Trump described as a favorable first show featuring plenty of “Laughing Machine” reactions.
“I understand that. He’s doing his thing. I never took it very personally,” Trump wrote, adding that he had often mocked Maher’s reportedly low ratings whenever he heard about them.
Trump further described Maher as unpleasant and accused him of saying what he believed his audience wanted to hear. He said the comedian’s supporters were largely made up of “Losers” and people who “don’t like working.”

Recalling Maher’s first White House dinner visit in April last year, Trump claimed: “He invited himself to the White House! We had our first meeting, Bill was very nervous.”
“He asked for a drink. He was very insecure, and he had a seriously bruised eye and nose area, as though somebody had just beaten him up — But it wasn’t me!” Trump added.
Maher addressed the backlash during his Saturday night show, responding to critics of the dinner by saying: “Yeah I did it again b******,” a reference to the pair’s first White House meal in April 2025.
He later defended the meetings more directly, telling viewers: “You know what? F*** you. I like these dinners.”
Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has also appeared on Maher’s program. Trump praised Leavitt as “great” in his post while calling Maher a “dumb sleazebag.”
He added: ‘There were so many other falsehoods Bill spewed, but I won’t waste time in FACT CHECKING him. He isn’t worth it. Bill: Don’t call anymore.

‘You’re also a coward who is afraid to tell the truth about how well our Country is running because of your few “fans,” and how badly the Dumocrats have done, almost destroying the U.S.A.
‘If I hadn’t won the Election, it would be DEAD! Also, turn your Laugh Machine off, it’s a joke when they laugh uncontrollably, even when you say nothing funny, and I’m going to have the Republicans not cover you anymore, because they try to talk about you as a guy who is transformative.
‘You’re not transformative, you’re a Loser! I never watched your show much, but I will never watch it again, because it is nothing more than FAKE NEWS that America, and the World, is unfortunately subjected to.’
The post comes just a few days after Trump told reporters: ‘The dinner last night with Kid Rock and Stephen A. [Smith] and Bill Maher was great. I think they had a good time. We talked about everything. It lasted a long time.’
This is a breaking news story.
