President Trump is in Las Vegas Saturday after a whirlwind first few days in the Oval Office, filled with executive orders and travel across the country as his agenda takes form in Washington.

“I’m really going to Nevada to thank them for the vote, because we won Nevada overwhelmingly and that’s usually a Democratic vote,” the president said Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s visit to the Silver State, which flipped blue in November for the first time in two decades.

On Friday, the president also visited Asheville, N.C., and Los Angeles, to survey extensive damage from Hurricane Helene and the devastating California wildfires, respectively.

While on the road in North Carolina, Trump doubled down on his calls for disaster relief efforts to be handled by states, calling FEMA’s response to the hurricane “disappointing.”

In California, Trump enjoyed a friendly greeting with Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) as he landed in the Golden State in the wake of the blazes.

Back in Washington late Friday, the Senate voted to confirm the president’s choice to lead the Defense Department, Pete Hegseth. All Democrats and three Republicans, including former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), opposed the move. Vice President Vance had to cast a vote to break a 50-50 tie.

The Senate also took a preliminary vote to move ahead in the confirmation process Trump’s nominee, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R), to lead the Department of Homeland Security.
