Trump Plans to Participate in 9/11 Memorial Event at the Pentagon

() President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will attend an annual flag ceremony Thursday at the Pentagon as the nation marks 24 years since the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

will stream Trump’s expected remarks at the ceremony, set for 8:45 a.m. EDT.

The event, which honors the 184 service members and civilians killed when a jetliner flew into the U.S. military headquarters, began at sunrise with the unfurling of the American flag. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was in attendance.

The remembrance event coincides with similar memorials in New York City and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the other Sept. 11 attack sites. Nearly 3,000 people died during the coordinated attacks.

The families of those killed in the World Trade Center will gather at Memorial Plaza at 8:30 a.m. EDT, where six moments of silence will be observed and victims’ names will be read aloud.  affiliate WPIX will stream the commemoration ceremony.

The Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville will hold its annual remembrance service at 9:45 a.m. EDT on Thursday, and   local affiliate WTAJ will stream the ceremony.
