Trump Unloads on Bill Maher in 1,300-Word Truth Social Post

President Trump branded Bill Maher a “complete, total loser” and a “sleazebag” in a 1,300-word Truth Social tirade, claiming the comedian “looked like hell” during their recent dinner.

Trump targeted the 70-year-old “Real Time” host after Maher said Friday that the president had “the lowest approval rating of any midterm candidate ever.” Maher also joked that his four-hour dinner with Trump on Oct. 15 lasted longer than Katie Zacharia’s tenure as press secretary.

“Let’s talk about this COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER, Bill Maher,” Trump began in Sunday’s 1,322-word post, his longest tirade on record, according to Factbase. He criticized Maher’s “Low Rated Show” on HBO, saying the network was once “a Network of Quality and Excitement” but “isn’t ‘HOT’ anymore!”

Trump also took aim at producer Chuck LaBella, who previously worked with Maher on the ABC program “Politically Incorrect.”

“Maher’s friend and business associate, Chuck LaBella, was also a friend of mine,” Trump wrote, saying LaBella worked as a “gofer” on “The Apprentice.” Trump credited the show’s success—including its frequent No. 1 ratings and year-end finale recognition—with helping LaBella and others rise quickly through NBC’s ranks.

“The Success of the Apprentice was so great that everyone partook — It built many careers, and that is a wonderful thing,” Trump wrote. “Some people say it even built my career, because I became President (I would have won without it!).”

Trump then claimed LaBella would call him to share how much Maher “loves” and respects him. According to Trump, LaBella also repeatedly sought a meeting between Maher and Trump, including before Trump became president.

“When I became President, I agreed to meet, after the first one, and the last one, but never agreed to do his show, which he wants me to do, DESPARATELY — It won’t happen!” Trump wrote. He also accused Maher’s program of ending “with dishonesty.”

Trump next challenged Maher’s statement that he had “the lowest approval rating of any midterm candidate ever,” dismissing the comedian’s figures as based on “fake polls.”

“I have high ratings,” Trump wrote, arguing that Maher was also wrong to say he was losing support within the Republican Party. Trump cited a CNN poll that he said showed him with 98% to 99% support among Republicans—an “All Time Record High”—compared with Ronald Reagan’s 86%.

Trump also cited CNN’s Harry Enten, saying Enten had called him “The Most Influential President of the Last Century.”

Trump further referred to a CNN poll asking who was the most popular person in Republican Party history. He said he led with 53%, followed by Ronald Reagan at 18% and Abraham Lincoln at 8%. Trump accused Maher of lying and questioned whether a “Laughter Machine” was used to amplify the audience response on his show, arguing that viewers could not genuinely find the comedian funny.

Trump’s post then revisited the two dinners Maher has attended. Trump, Maher, Kid Rock and UFC chief Dana White dined at the White House on March 31, 2025. On Oct. 15, Maher, Trump and Stephen A. Smith held another dinner at the White House.

The president said LaBella and Kid Rock called him “incessantly” to arrange a meeting with Maher. Trump added that he initially viewed the comedian as a “goofball.”

According to Trump, they told him: “He wants to go down to the White House, be with you, and talk. He said you’re very smart, but you’re not into the Liberal Platform. Will you start thinking about it?”

Trump said Maher “invited himself” to the White House and appeared “very nervous” during their first meeting.

“He asked for a drink. He was very insecure, and he had a seriously bruised eye and nose area, as though somebody had just beaten him up — But it wasn’t me!” Trump wrote.

Trump said LaBella—whom he again described as a “gofer”—called him 10 times while trying to organize a second meeting with Maher.

“It seemed that these guys were serious, and wanted to learn more, because their Policies are so bad, it’s ridiculous!” Trump wrote.

Trump added that he wanted to warn Maher that the comedian was a “major pothead,” claiming marijuana use was “very bad for his health.”

“He looked like hell this time,” Trump said. “Bill was drunk and had alcohol in his hand as he walked through the White House,” he said of the dinner with Kid Rock and Stephen A. Smith.

“Overall, I thought it was a good meeting. It didn’t last four hours, it lasted two hours, maybe less, and everybody was happy,” Trump said, disputing Maher’s account.

“We have the timestamps. I learned nothing, and felt it was a waste of time. After the first dinner, Bill Maher was friendly, I guess, everyone walked away pleased. He gave me a good first show, with lots of Laughing Machine laughter, which is a real term, but it is what it is, and then reverted back to his former self, and his old ways. I understand that.”

Trump said the comic “isn’t a nice guy” and is someone “who has to cater to his base, which is mostly composed of Losers.”

“It’s why, for so long, I didn’t get another call from Chuck LaBella, and I didn’t miss him one bit. After the second dinner, Bill’s “show” was far worse than the first. He went crazy! He’s gutless, because he enjoyed every minute.”

Trump lashed out at Maher after the comic, during his interview with Karoline Leavitt, asked, “So I see now [Trump] wants to get rid of the press pool in the White House and make it into an actual swimming pool?”

“I am not building a swimming pool in the White House Briefing Room, and never had any intention of doing so,” Trump said, setting the record straight.

“I am thinking about moving the Press, and putting them in a different location, but I will use that location for very badly needed space.”

Trump slammed Maher for attacking “our Great Republican Candidates” before hailing Leavitt’s appearance.

“Karoline Leavitt was GREAT on the show, but she started with a biased, dumb SLEAZEBAG, asking questions. She defended me, and herself, so well, but couldn’t be comfortable going against Lie after Lie,” Trump wrote.

“Importantly, Bill lied about all of the Illegal Voters in the Radical controlled, decrepit, and devastated State of California.

“Just in the last few days alone, they found 20,000, and the number could easily go to over 1,000,000. There were so many other falsehoods Bill spewed, but I won’t waste time in FACT CHECKING him.  He isn’t worth it.”

He then urged Maher and LaBella not to call — before claiming the comic uses a machine to generate laughter for his jokes.

“You’re also a coward who is afraid to tell the truth about how well our Country is running because of your few “fans,” and how badly the Dumocrats have done, almost destroying the U.S.A. If I hadn’t won the Election, it would be DEAD!” Trump said.

“Also, turn your Laugh Machine off, it’s a joke when they laugh uncontrollably, even when you say nothing funny, and I’m going to have the Republicans not cover you anymore, because they try to talk about you as a guy who is transformative. You’re not transformative, you’re a Loser!

“I never watched your show much, but I will never watch it again, because it is nothing more than FAKE NEWS that America, and the World, is unfortunately subjected to.”

Trump signed off the record-breaking post in his traditional style, “Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

The platform Factba.se has since confirmed the 1,300-word post was Trump’s “longest post ever out of 97,455 cumulative social media posts since 2011.”

It was some 600 words longer than Trump’s second-longest social media post – from Sept. 30 where he hailed South Korea for launching $200 billion worth of new investments in the US.

Maher has not responded to Trump’s essay. But in his monologue, the comic proclaimed, “Yeah I did it again bitches,” referring to his dinner with the president.

Trump’s shark rebuke came just two days after telling White House reporters the dinner was “great.”

“It was a very informative dinner,” he said.  “Smart people.”

“Stephen A. is great. Bill Maher – I tell you what. He likes me a lot more than people understand, and I actually like him. It was a good dinner.”
