In a sweeping move announced on Friday, former President Donald Trump declared that he intends to nullify every executive order that wasn’t personally signed by his predecessor, Joe Biden.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform to make the announcement, stating, “Any document signed by Sleepy Joe Biden with the Autopen, which accounted for roughly 92% of them, is hereby terminated and deemed ineffective. The use of the Autopen is only permissible with explicit approval from the President of the United States.”
Trump further commented, “The Radical Left Lunatics who surrounded Biden at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office effectively stripped him of his presidential duties. I am hereby canceling all Executive Orders and any other actions that were not directly signed by Crooked Joe Biden. Those who operated the Autopen did so without legal authority. Should Joe Biden claim he was involved in the Autopen process, he will face perjury charges. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Earlier in the week, during a lighthearted moment, Trump pardoned turkeys named Gobble and Waddle. He humorously remarked that the turkey pardons from Biden’s administration were invalid because they were executed using an autopen.
“After conducting a thorough and exhaustive investigation into a concerning matter involving Sleepy Joe Biden, it was found that he used an autopen last year to pardon a turkey,” Trump quipped.
“So, I have the official duty to determine, and I have determined, that last year’s turkey pardons are totally invalid,” the president continued.
The White House in September revealed a “Presidential Walk of Fame” outside of the Oval Office with all presidents’ portraits, except Biden’s. Photos and videos from the White House included gold frames of previous presidents, with Biden getting a photo of an “autopen” writing his signature.
The president and those close to him have focused heavily on his predecessor’s autopen use. The autopen is a tool for signing official documents instead of a manual signature. Democratic and Republican presidents have both used it.
Biden faced concerns over his age and mental state throughout his presidency, but those concerns became more pronounced after a rough debate performance against Trump in 2024.
