Ilhan Omar is facing accusations of orchestrating her own assault after former President Donald Trump suggested she “likely arranged to be sprayed herself.”
During a town hall meeting in Minneapolis, the 43-year-old Democratic Representative from Minnesota was subjected to an attack involving an unidentified vinegar-scented liquid delivered via syringe.
Anthony Kazmierczak, a 55-year-old Trump supporter known for his previous online anti-Omar remarks, has been charged with third-degree assault in connection with the incident.
However, some speculate that Omar’s behavior during the incident might indicate a setup, highlighting two alleged discrepancies as evidence.
Critics point to the congresswoman’s swift reaction to the liquid being sprayed on her, noting her immediate move towards the attacker with a clenched fist.
‘If someone randomly sprayed me with a substance, I’d be running to the nearest bathroom to wash my eyes and skin – or straight to the hospital,’ said MAGA comedian Terrence Williams.
The second alleged clue is that Omar ‘nodded’ at Kazmierczak shortly before the attack, moments after she had called for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to be fired.Â
Ian Miles Cheong, a well known conservative provocateur, wrote on X: ‘Holy s***. Look at how Ilhan Omar looks at the guy who sprayed her and gives him a little nod right before he springs into action.’

The congresswoman’s immediate response to the liquid being sprayed on her upper body is to rush towards her assailant with her fist clenched
Conservative podcast host Trish Regan posted on X: ‘Ilhan Omar was reportedly sprayed in the face tonight – and she runs at the attacker? As though she’s about to take him out? This is not normal behavior. Not even close. No wonder people are asking if it was staged.’Â
Just before the attack, Omar had said: ‘DHS Secretary Kristi Noem must resign or face impeachment.’
Kazmierczak ran toward Omar and sprayed her with the syringe as he told the congresswoman to step down because she is ‘tearing Minnesota apart.’
Omar appeared ready to confront Kazmierczak before he was dragged away as she muttered: ‘F**king a**hole.’Â
Police immediately arrested him and forensic scientists responded to the scene.
Omar continued speaking for about 25 more minutes after the man was ushered out by security, saying she would not be intimidated.
Walking out afterward, Omar said she felt a little flustered but was not hurt. She was going to be screened by a medical team.
‘I’ve survived war. I’m definitely going to survive intimidation and whatever these people throw at me because I’m built that way,’ the Mogadishu-born congresswoman told reporters.Â

Trump claimed the incident was fabricated when asked about it, doubling down on his previous claims that Omar is a fraud, including questioning how she has made $30 million and alleging that she married her brother to secure immigration papers.Â
‘I think she’s a fraud. I really don’t think about that. She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her,’ the president told ABC News when asked if he’d watched the clip.Â
‘I hope I don’t have to bother.’
Kazmierczak allegedly hinted that he was planning to attack Omar in a text sent to a friend earlier on Tuesday.
He wrote that he was ‘going to this Omar thing’ and ‘might get arrested’, and asked his friend if he would look after his dog, the New York Post reported.Â
The friend added that Kazmierczak is heavily medicated as he has Parkinson’s Disease and was in a car crash a few years ago that injured his back.
The Daily Mail has contacted Omar for comment.
