Donald Trump’s favorite Broadway musical is making a remarkable comeback after two years away from the Great White Way.

The Phantom of the Opera, a favorite musical of the 47th President, is set to make a return to Broadway. The show had closed its doors on April 16, 2023, as a result of decreasing ticket sales and increasing production costs in the aftermath of the pandemic.

‘Phantom was one of the greatest of all,’ Trump said during a 2023 interview with War Room podcast host Steve Bannon.

The President expressed his admiration for the musical, stating, “I go in and I see this musical, I say ‘this thing is unbelievable.’ And it didn’t take long because their music is so good. By the time we had intermission, I said ‘this thing is incredible.'”

After a successful run of 35 years and 13,981 performances, The Phantom of the Opera holds the title of the longest-running show in Broadway history. Audiences, including the US president, can once again experience the enchanting tale on stage.

However, a few changes are in store for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit show, starting with the production’s name – Masquerade – which takes inspiration from one of the musical’s most elaborate dance sequences.

The acclaimed production will also have a new home. Instead of returning to the Majestic Theater, the show will captivate audiences on West 57th Street in the old Lee’s Art Shop building.

Additional details about the show’s refreshed edition remain unclear, however, those curious to learn more can submit their name and email to a website featuring the Phantom’s iconic mask.

An Instagram account for the renewed play has also been created, featuring images in the show’s customary black and red, along with quotes from the award-winning musical.

The Phantom of the Opera took its final bow on April 16, 2023, following a 35th anniversary celebration just months earlier on January 26.

‘The Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group’s Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Harold Prince – the longest-running show in Broadway history – is confirmed to play its final 5 months,’ a representative for the show told PEOPLE.

While a specific run date has not been specified for Masquerade, it is expected to run later this year.

Lloyd Webber admitted that he was ‘sad’ to see The Phantom Of The Opera end its run on Broadway after entertaining theatergoers for 35 years.

The 75-year-old English composer appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in April 2023 when he was asked about being in the Majestic Theatre on Sunday for the final performance of the musical on Broadway.

‘Well, it was strange really, because, you know, one of the funny things that’s happened with Phantom is that over the last few years… well, few months really, a young audience found it. And it’s, I don’t know, it was sad last night because I just felt it could run on. But there you go,’ Webber told Fallon.

The musical theater impresario said it was ‘very unusual’ for everything to come together for a musical.

‘Like the production, the whole thing meshes, it’s just one of those moments. I mean, it happened with The Lion King, it’s happened with Hamilton, it’s happened with me with Phantom. It doesn’t happen very often,’ Webber said.

Fallon then asked Webber about his long-running Broadway show Cats and he hilariously took the opportunity to ridicule the 2019 box-office bomb Cats based on his 1981 stage musical.

‘How does one come up with an idea like Cats and are you a cat person?,’ Fallon said.

‘Well, I am a cat person. Well, I was a total cat person until I saw the Cats movie,’ Webber quipped.
