Trump, Pam Bondi applaud crime crackdown on holiday weekend

() President Donald Trump has faced pushback from both sides of the aisle over his push to prosecute his political enemies with the help of Attorney General Pam Bondi.

In a public social media post addressed to Bondi on Saturday, Trump lamented a lack of investigation into several current and former officials, saying that needs to change to maintain the administration’s credibility.

The post mentioned New York Attorney General Letitia James, former FBI director James Comey and Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.

“They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done …” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!”

James won a multimillion-dollar judgment against the Trump Organization in New York, Comey led the investigation into Trump’s 2016 campaign and alleged Russian influence, and Schiff was the lead prosecutor during the president’s first impeachment trial.

Critics have said Congress needs to step in before Trump’s political foes are targeted.

“You’re not going to be able get away with it when we’ve got 435 representatives and 100 senators,” commentator Stephen A. Smith said during a Sunday TV appearance.

“But if you’re not going to do anything, you’re not going to show that you have a spine, then he’s going to be able to do whatever he wants to do,” Smith added. “And if his No. 1 goal is retribution, there’s a whole bunch of people that’s going to be in a world of trouble.”

Some Democrats including Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. have raised concerns.

“Lawfare of all sorts is wrong, Republican or Democrat, it’s wrong now,” Paul said.

He pointed to former President Joe Biden as someone who weaponized the DOJ against Trump, but doubled down, stating “it is not right for the Trump administration to do the same thing.”

Both Schiff and James are under investigation by the DOJ for mortgage fraud, and both have denied any wrongdoing. The federal prosecutor in Virginia, whose investigation into James did not result in criminal charges, resigned Friday.
