Two men are on the mend after sustaining gunshot wounds in separate domestic altercations in Jacksonville, as per the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Early Saturday, authorities reported that both incidents occurred during the late hours of Halloween and into the early hours of the following day.

The initial shooting unfolded around 10 p.m. on Halloween night, with the second incident taking place at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Sergeant Mitlyng from the JSO stated that officers were dispatched to the 8500 block of Jasper Avenue in response to the first shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a man in his 30s who had been shot once.

The injured individual was promptly transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to Mitlyng.

The man was then taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Mitlyng.

“The preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect and victim live together and a dispute occurred between them, which led to the suspect shooting the victim,” Mitlyng said. “All parties are accounted for and are being interviewed by detectives.”

Early Saturday morning shooting

Around 12:30 a.m., JSO’s Sergeant Richardson said officers responded to the 9400 block of Thorn Glen Road in reference to a man being shot.

When officers arrived, Richardson said the man was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

“The investigation revealed that the victim and suspect were in a domestic dispute,” Richardson said. “During the dispute, the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots in the direction of the victim, striking him once in the foot. The injury the victim sustained is considered non-life-threatening at this time.”

Richardson further told First Coast News that officers detained the suspect and that detectives spoke to witnesses.

Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
