The two bodies were reportedly found during a routine inspection after the plane landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Two people were found dead overnight in an aircraft compartment on a JetBlue Plane at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to a statement from the airline.

Officials stated that on Monday night, the two people were found dead in the aircraft’s landing gear during a routine inspection.

The airline added that the identities of the people and circumstances surrounding how they accessed the aircraft are still under investigation.

“This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this occurred,” JetBlue stated.

In CBS Miami’s report of the incident, the plane had most recently operated Flight 1807 from New York’s JFK Airport.
