A Ukrainian soldier survived a brutal ordeal after having his throat slashed and being buried alive by Russian captors before crawling for five days to reach safety. Despite his wounds, he is determined to return to the battlefield and confront the “creatures” who captured him once he has fully recovered.
At age 33, Vladislav recounted the horrific experiences of his fellow captives, whom Russian forces under the command of Vladimir Putin ruthlessly tortured, including castration, eye-gouging, and facial disfigurements, as reported by Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne.
The father of one is unable to speak and wrote down his horrific experiences in a diary, which was then shared by his wife and brother.
Vladislav was seized earlier this month while attempting to assist his comrades, who were captured by Russian troops after their defensive position fell near Pokrovsk city in the eastern Donetsk region, his family revealed.

“The first guys who were captured — they were from intelligence — had their eyes gouged out, their lips cut off, their male organs cut off, their ears, their noses,” Vladislav’s brother, Yevhen, said.
The soldier was thrown into a pit along with seven dead Ukrainian soldiers and then buried alive by the Russian brutes, who poured garbage on top of the mass grave, Vladislav told his relatives through his diary.
“He says he was lucky that when they threw them into the pit, they poured more garbage on top so it wouldn’t be so visible. There was a broken bottle there, and his hands were tied, so he was able to cut the rope with that bottle,” Vladislav’s wife, Victoria, told Suspilne.

After crawling for five days, the seriously injured Vladislav finally reached Ukrainian lines on Aug. 17 and was taken to a military hospital.
He had lost a lot of blood, and his wounds had begun to rot when he was found, according to General Director Serhiy, a medic in the Ukrainian military.
“When they cut your throat, when a person is bleeding out, there are few chances. He held on to the end, but, you know, what makes it different is that he was sure to the end that everything would be fine,” Serhiy told Suspilne.
Vladislav has already undergone surgery, and doctors haven’t given up hope that he will be able to speak again, Serhiy said.
The soldier, who has a 4-year-old daughter back home, is already planning on returning to the front line, according to his brother.
Branding his Russian captors “creatures,” he said he wants them to go through “what I and those seven of our Cossack boys felt,” Yevhen said.
