Early Thursday morning, a small aircraft incident at a Los Angeles airport drew significant attention after a suspect reportedly broke into the facility and commandeered a plane. According to the Los Angeles Airport Police, the break-in occurred around 4 a.m., leading to the dramatic events that unfolded.

The plane involved was a single-engine Cessna C172, which crashed into a hangar at approximately 5 a.m., as confirmed by the Federal Aviation Administration. The crash resulted in visible damage to the hangar, leaving a substantial hole in the building’s structure.

Authorities have identified the individual responsible as 37-year-old Ceffeareno Logan. He was promptly arrested on charges of burglary and theft of an aircraft. The incident has raised questions about security at the facility and how Logan managed to gain access to the plane.

According to statements provided to Fox News Digital, the Los Angeles Airport Police reported that Logan trespassed onto a privately leased section of the Van Nuys general aviation airport. He accessed the Cessna aircraft, which subsequently led to damage to nearby infrastructure. Airport police quickly responded to the scene, taking Logan into custody before the situation could escalate further.

This breach and subsequent crash at Van Nuys Airport have sparked discussions about airport security measures and the need for increased vigilance to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The FBI Los Angeles field office also confirmed to Fox News Digital that federal agents responded.

Photos from the crash site show the single-engine Cessna C172 appeared to have left a large hole in the building.

Law enforcement officials said the plane never made it off the ground, KTLA reported. Investigators believe the plane struck the hangar while taxiing, the outlet added.
