The eagerly anticipated 90-minute documentary, “Melania,” featuring the First Lady, made its cinematic debut nationwide on Friday. This film is filled with fleeting moments that offer a nuanced glimpse into her world.

A 10 a.m. screening attended by The Daily Mail in New York City provided an in-depth look into what Melania has crafted with Amazon over the past year.

The documentary chronicles the 55-year-old First Lady during the 20 days leading up to President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025.

In a historic transaction, Amazon acquired the film for $40 million, making it the most expensive documentary deal ever, outbidding heavyweights like Disney, Netflix, and Paramount in a competitive auction.

The film provides an insider’s view of the intense preparations for these pivotal days, showcasing her fittings with designers Adam Lippes and Herve Pierre for her inauguration attire. It also highlights her sessions with interior designer Tham Kannalikham, who was responsible for decking out the family’s quarters as they prepared to return to the White House.

Other moments see the First Lady talking about her Be Best initiative, even conducting a video call on her laptop with First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron, to get insight on her anti-cyber bullying lawmaking in the country.

There are more tender parts of the film, too, like when Melania speaks fondly about her late mother, Amalija Knavs, who passed in January 2024, or when she meets with freed Gaza hostage Aviva Siegel, who was fighting for the release of her husband, Keith, at the time.

Melania speaks about how much she misses her mom, even going to light a candle in her mom’s honor at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City on the one-year anniversary of her passing.

The First Lady's new 90-minute documentary, Melania, finally hit theaters across the country on Friday - and there a lot of' blink-and-you'll-miss-it' moments to be seen in the feature that give us all a subtle look into how she operates

Of course, there’s also the footage from inauguration day itself, as well as the inaugural balls and candlelit dinner held the night before Trump was sworn in. Melania takes viewers along the ride, even showing her playfully dancing to ‘YMCA’ as they left the stage at the Starlight Ball.

But perhaps what’s most interesting about it all were the small moments woven in, the ones that many viewers might easily miss.

If there’s one thing for sure that this film showed in the fleeting moments, it’s that Melania’s love for 19-year-old son Barron is unrivaled – as she also hinted at his most positive personality trait.

The New York University student was not shown heavily in the film, only a few moments during inauguration day, but the First Lady spoke extremely highly of him throughout.

In one scene, as she and Donald Trump are sitting in the car together, they talk about Barron, who the President says that he has ‘cute conversations’ with.

‘I love him,’ Melania says, as she adds that her son is an ‘incredible mind.’

Of course, after Trump was elected, it was revealed that the teen had a big part in his father’s campaign, especially when it came to recommending podcasts and YouTube shows for him to appear on.

During the film, she also briefly shares that Barron is ‘very confident’ and that she wants him to live his own life and carve his own path.

It’s a Man’s World by James Brown plays in the background, while shots of him at the inauguration parade appear on camera.

However, Barron is the only child that’s spoken about during the movie.

Melania does not say a word about her four stepchildren – Don. Jr, 48, Ivanka, 44, Eric, 42, or Tiffany, 32, during the 90-minute spectacle.

What’s perhaps another curious moment in the film are the few minutes before Trump is officially sworn in.

Melania is seen in a room backstage as she awaits to walk out to the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.

While she is waiting, she’s watching the room on a TV that is playing CNN’s live feed about the event. She even chuckles when the newscasters, including Jake Tapper, made a comment about Barron’s height.

Over the years, Trump has branded CNN as ‘fake news’ and repeatedly slammed their anchors, like Kaitlan Collins.

The cameras also capture former President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as they await their turn to walk in to the rotunda. At one point, Harris is seen looking impatiently at her watch.

While President Trump is not the main focus of this movie, there are a few moments where fans see him by the First Lady’s side.

This includes a snippet at the end of the film, when they return home at 2am, back to The White House, after their inaugural ball circuit.

Trump gets his dinner from the kitchen, as Melania takes off her sky-high heels and sits down on the couch.

The producers seem to prod Trump about his day, especially with the First Lady accompanying him for it all.

‘There’s nobody like her, she’s very difficult, but there’s nobody like her,’ Trump told the cameras about his wife.

He then tries to walk back his ‘very difficult’ comment by saying that he was just joking, before later heading to off to bed.

The next day, Melania admits that she doesn’t mind that she had been awake for 22 hours straight, because she was part of a historic day for the country.

Of course, since the documentary shows a look into her glamorous life, it also catches glimpses of her Hermès collection that’s worth tens-of-thousands of dollars.

While she travels back and forth from Mar-a-Lago to New York City to Washington, D.C., she is shown with two never-before-seen Birkin bags in the largest size, 40cm.

One of the Birkin bags is black, while the other was cream with a brown leather trim, going for over $21,000 on release sites like eBay.

At the end of the film, she said that she wants to move forward with ‘purpose’ and ‘style’ as a First Lady, ending it all with the photoshoot she had for her Official White House portrait last January.

Right before credits roll, viewers are inundated with all of Melania’s accomplishments so far, as they scroll across the screen.

This includes her ‘peace letter’ to Vladimir Putin, and championing of the ‘Take It Down’ act, which is a new federal law protecting victims from AI-generated and ‘intimate imagery.’

‘Melania Trump’s commitment to serving the American people and supporting global causes is unwavering,’ the last sentence on the screen reads.

During Thursday night’s premiere of the film at The Kennedy Center, Melania told the Daily Mail about her motivations for making the movie.

‘Can you talk a little bit about your inspiration for focusing on these 20 days before inauguration?’ the Daily Mail asked on the red carpet, which the First Lady painted black in line with the color scheme of the film’s promotion.

‘Well, it was my life,’ Melania said, walking alongside the President. ‘So people will see it transitioning from private citizen to being the First Lady again.’

‘The schedule was very intense, they followed me from morning until evening,’ the mother of one added.

‘And you will see what I have to do and what I did from planning the inauguration, to running my business… taking care of the family, moving to the White House, meeting with security detail, establishing the East Wing and hiring the people that need to work for me – but also they work for the American people.’

After it premieres in theaters, the movie will be available to stream on Amazon.
