Chicago shooting: 2 men shot, killed during jewelry store armed robbery on West 26th Street in Little Village, police say

In a tragic turn of events in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood, Cook County Crime Stoppers are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for a deadly jewelry store robbery. On Saturday evening, a chilling crime occurred in the 3800 block of 26th Street, where two men lost their lives.

At approximately 5:49 p.m., an armed assailant entered the jewelry store, according to Chicago police. The suspect, after seizing valuables, became embroiled in a confrontation with two men outside the establishment. The victims, aged 63 and 25, were shot multiple times during the altercation.

Witnesses report the suspect fled the scene in a white SUV, heading south on Springfield Avenue. Both victims were urgently transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Sadly, despite medical efforts, they succumbed to their injuries. Authorities have yet to release their identities.

This incident has sparked a wave of concern and mourning in the community, as police continue their investigation. The reward underscores the urgency and gravity of solving this violent crime, with hopes that justice will soon be served.

The victims were both taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition, and they were both later pronounced dead, police said. Their identities have not yet been released.

Cook County Crime Stoppers on Sunday offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest in the double homicide.

A man in a Blackhawks hoodie and mask can be seen walking up to the jewelry store right around 5:45 p.m., just before the robbery and shooting.

Within about 30 seconds, the suspect runs outside with some merchandise from the store as two men chase after him. The altercation continued in the middle of the street near oncoming traffic, and then right near the corner of Springfield. The offender could be seen pulling out his gun and shooting both victims.

Police say no one else was hurt by those gunshots that were fired off in the middle of the street.

No arrests have been made as Chicago police continue to investigate.
