NEW YORK — A new trend is taking over social media, encouraging a shift from cozy sweatpants to stylish sweaters.

This movement gained momentum thanks to a viral TikTok by Bronx natives Jason Gyamfi and Richard Minor, which has now captivated over 23 million viewers.

Across the nation, young men are embracing quarter-zips, sharing their journey of self-improvement and style enhancement online.

Pedro Rivera takes you inside the Quarter-zip lifestyle trend and its founders.

Gyamfi, who holds a computer science degree from Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, realized the need for a wardrobe upgrade as he prepared for job interviews.

“When you look good, you feel good, and that translates into doing well,” Gyamfi expressed.

He posted about his job-seeking attire to his following of thousands and suddenly, the quarter-zip was a revolution.

And it isn’t just young men who are ditching the Nike tech and hoodies; tweens and teens from all over are joining in on the movement.

Gyamfi says the idea behind the movement is about personally elevating and motivating at the end of the day.

“The movement is elevation at the end of the day, when you leave your house, you’re the best version of yourself, point blank, period,” Gyamfi said.

He added it’s really not about the clothes.

“The man makes the clothes, not the clothes make the man,” Gyamfi said.
