Authorities in San Jose made a disturbing discovery when they found a body inside a truck, so severely decomposed that identifying the victim on the scene was impossible.
Responding to a call on March 21, officers from the San Jose Police Department arrived at the intersection of Francis Drive and McKee Road, where they encountered the grim scene.
Faced with the challenge of identifying the remains due to the advanced state of decomposition, police handed over the case to the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
The vehicle, identified as a red, two-door 2010 Nissan Frontier, is linked to Aldama Refugio Jr., a 40-year-old resident of San Jose who was reported missing earlier in 2026, officials revealed.
Investigators are working to determine if the body is that of Refugio, with the possibility of foul play being a factor in the case.
The shocking discovery has left the local community rattled. Police are combing the area and reviewing any leads that might shed light on how the victim ended up in the truck.
