In a tragic turn of events, the U.S. military announced on Sunday that the body of an American soldier, who vanished during military drills in Morocco last week, has been found.
1st Lt. Kendrick Lamont Key Jr., an officer specializing in Air Defense Artillery, tragically lost his life at just 27 years old after falling off a cliff during a leisure hike in Morocco—a mishap that involved another U.S. soldier as well.
Key was a valued member of the Charlie Battery in the 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, part of the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, under the U.S. Army Europe and Africa.
The search for the second missing soldier remains ongoing, a U.S. defense official said.
The two soldiers were reported missing on May 2 after participating in African Lion, the annual multinational military exercises held in Morocco.
