The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday’s draw has soared into the ranks of the top 10 largest prizes in the game’s history.
WASHINGTON — Have you checked your Powerball tickets yet? Wednesday’s draw boasted a massive $775 million jackpot, and you might just be a winner!
Although no one clinched the grand prize, some players celebrated significant wins. Notably, there were two $1 million tickets sold in California and Florida, and a $2 million winner in Kentucky thanks to the Power Play option.
With no jackpot winner, the prize has now escalated to a whopping $820 million for the upcoming Saturday draw.
This growing jackpot marks the second-largest of the year for Powerball. Nonetheless, it still falls short of the monumental $1.8 billion jackpot split by lucky ticket holders in Missouri and Texas last September, marking the second-largest lottery win in U.S. history.
The jackpot was last won Sept. 6, when two Missouri and Texas winners overcame odds of 1 in 292.2 million.
The largest Powerball jackpot remains $2.04 billion, won in California in November 2022. This year has seen three major Powerball wins: the record $1.787 billion September prize, a $526.5 million jackpot claimed in California in March and a $328.5 million prize won in Oregon in January.
