WASHINGTON — Authorities have unveiled surveillance footage to help identify the suspect involved in the shooting of New York Jets player Kris Boyd. This incident, which left Boyd in critical but stable condition, unfolded in the early hours of Saturday in Midtown Manhattan.

The athlete, aged 29, sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen around 2 a.m. on West 38th Street, close to Seventh Avenue, as per reports from the New York Post. Sources from law enforcement indicated that the shooting occurred outside the Sei Less restaurant following an altercation that escalated, resulting in the assailant discharging two rounds.

The NYPD, through a recent Crime Stoppers alert, communicated that the shooter escaped heading east on West 38th Street and is still on the run. Descriptions provided depict the suspect as a male with medium skin tone, last observed wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, and multi-colored sneakers, also carrying a black backpack.

Boyd was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was said to be in critical but stable condition, an NYPD spokesperson previously confirmed to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

A Jets spokesperson told ESPN, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”

Boyd is in his first season with the Jets after signing in free agency in March. He has spent the year on injured reserve. Drafted by Minnesota in the seventh round in 2019, he has also played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.
