Take a moment to inspect your refrigerator, as a popular meal kit from Costco is being pulled from shelves due to a potential salmonella risk.
Costco has issued a recall for its Meatloaf with Mashed Yukon Potatoes and Glaze meal kit after discovering that one of its ingredients might be contaminated with salmonella, according to the company’s recall alert.
The alert specifies, “Select sell-by dates of Item #30783, the Meatloaf with Mashed Yukon Potatoes and Glaze, are being recalled. This action follows a notification from Griffith Foods Inc., the ingredient supplier, about possible salmonella contamination in one of the components used.”

The affected packages have sell-by dates ranging from March 5 to March 16 and were available in Costco stores across 26 states, including Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
Customers who have purchased this meal kit are advised not to consume it. Costco assures a full refund upon the return of the product.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience this recall may have caused,” Costco said.
The company added that no illnesses have been reported.
Salmonella symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Symptoms usually start six hours to six days after infection and usually last four to seven days.
Infections can be severe in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems, who may require hospitalization.
