Verizon has gone down across the US, leaving many customers unable to use their smartphones.

The outage began around 2pm, with few reports surfacing, but thousands have since appeared – all claiming issues with cellular service.

Reports show both iPhone and Android users have been impacted.

Verizon’s dashboard states: ‘Data, voice, and text are limited. There is a known issue, and we are working on a solution.’

Verizon has more than 143 million users in the US – but the amount hit by Friday’s outage is unknown.

Downdetector, a site that monitors online issues, reports the highest number of customers without service are in Omaha, San Diego, Portland, Phoenix and Louisville.

While Verizon has not addressed the outage on its social media, customers can check their location’s service on the company’s dashboard here.
