Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to visit North Carolina this Friday, placing a spotlight on economic issues during his trip.

The gathering will take place at the Power House in Rocky Mount. A spokesperson for the vice president indicated that Vance plans to address topics such as the economy, public safety, and election integrity in his speech.

These themes have consistently been central to President Trump’s policy agenda since his initial term in office.

A poll conducted by ABC News, The Washington Post, and Ipsos last month revealed that 29% of participants believe the economy has seen improvement under Trump’s leadership, while 48% feel it has deteriorated. Although these figures show some improvement compared to last year, economic challenges continue to be a critical issue for the administration as it approaches the midterm elections.

Mary Helen Warren, who leads the Tar River Republican Women, commented, “The economy is a concern for everyone, regardless of political affiliation. If you’re managing household expenses, you’re likely worried about the economy. I hope he addresses this in his speech.”

Roughly 150 seats were set up for the event, with most filled nearly two hours before the vice president’s scheduled appearance. Among those in attendance were State Auditor Dave Boliek and Laurie Buckhout, the Republican nominee in North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, who recently received Trump’s endorsement.

The vice president is expected to speak at 2 p.m.

This will be Vance’s second trip to North Carolina since becoming vice president. He spoke in Concord in September about public safety in the wake of the murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska.
