The man was suffering from gunshot wounds.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was found dead in a car in a parking lot of the Southside Commons Shopping Center in the Regency area of Jacksonville Wednesday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Someone called 911 at 3 p.m. Wednesday to report finding a man unresponsive in a car. JSO says he was found with gunshot wounds. 

When police and fire rescue arrived at the scene, they pronounced him dead.

JSO says the investigation is ongoing. The JSO Homicide Unit responded and is investigating; however, the death has not yet been classified as a homicide.

Police say there is no threat to the community at this time. They are working with the medical examiner and state attorney to determine what happened.
