Video: Vehicle launches off overpass, plummets onto freeway below

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (WFLA) One driver is lucky to be alive after their vehicle plummeted off an overpass in California on Monday.

Dash camera video captured the horrifying moment the car veers off the overpass, falling onto Interstate 5, and spinning on the nose of the vehicle.

Drivers below narrowly escaped the falling vehicle, which took a tree and other debris down with it.

According to authorities, the driver was found trapped inside the rollover car. They were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were in “critical but stable condition,” according to Nexstar affiliate KTXL.

KTXL reported that Sacramento police responded to the crash at around 1 p.m. near the off-ramp for West El Camino Avenue. The roadway was closed for around two hours.
