Utah authorities have released striking video of a high-altitude rescue involving a hiker who fell hundreds of feet from Mount Timpanogos’ summit last month.
The woman was hiking on Oct. 26 when she lost her footing and slid down the 11,700-foot mountain, eventually stopping on a narrow ledge, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
“Our Search and Rescue pilot was able to spot the hiker from our airplane as we began to deploy SAR team members to the mountain,” the agency said in a social media post Wednesday.

Officials said Tuesday that the hiker was steadily recovering from her injuries.
“We have heard that the hiker is recovering well from her injuries, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery,” the sheriff’s office said. “Thank you to all those agencies that rushed to the rescue. This incident is a stark reminder of how fast a fun outing can turn into a life-or-death situation.”
