Wendy Williams’ former producer expresses concern over host’s guardianship: ‘It’s terrifying’

A previous producer who worked on “The Wendy Williams Show” has recently gotten back in touch with the host, who is currently dealing with a difficult legal situation regarding her guardianship. The producer is expressing deep concern about Wendy Williams’ well-being during this challenging time.

“You guys have been asking me for years if I’ve heard from Wendy and what I’m doing to help Wendy, and I’m going to be honest, I hadn’t heard from Wendy in years — until last week,” Suzanne Bass shared in a video posted on Instagram Thursday.

“My phone rang and it was Wendy. I cried, she cried. She sounds fantastic.”

The producer, who worked on the now-defunct talk show for years and was a staple on the program, further gushed that Williams, 60, sounded “the best she has sounded in years.”

However, Bass said that since their chat, she has been “learning every day” about her pal’s legal battle.

“This horrible guardianship she’s in — It is horrible and it’s terrifying,” she said. “#FreeWendy all the way, all day, and she really just needs our love and support. Just send prayers to her.”

Williams began going on hiatus from her eponymous talk show around 2020 due to ongoing health issues, including her struggles with Graves’ disease. The show was officially canceled in February 2022.

Since then, Williams’ life has taken a dark turn. That same year, Wells Fargo froze her accounts and the court ordered her to be in a guardianship, as she was deemed “incapacitated” and subject to “undue influence and financial exploitation.” She was also sent to live in an assisted living facility.

In February 2024, the ex-talk show host was then diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.

However, Williams insisted in a bombshell interview with “The Breakfast Club” earlier this year that she is not “cognitively impaired” and claimed she feels like a prisoner due to her legal restrictions.

“I am definitely isolated. To talk to these people who live here, that is not my cup of tea,” she said in January. Her family has also alleged multiple times that they are unable to contact the ex-radio DJ directly.

As a result of Williams speaking out, her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has requested a new medical exam to determine the host’s most current mental health status.

The New York-based lawyer reportedly also signed an affidavit last month to release her from the guardianship, as Williams has allegedly “regained capacity” to function independently.
