OAK PARK, Ill. — West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park and Weiss Hospital in Chicago’s Uptown area are halting all patient care services. This decision stems from issues with their billing system, according to the CEO.

Dr. Manoj Prasad, CEO of Resilience Health, stated that the hospitals have been unable to bill patients correctly, resulting in operations running at only a fraction of the usual revenue.

He further explained that hospital operations have been paused until the billing issues are resolved, assuring that employees will continue to receive their salaries on schedule.

According to staff, they have been notified that their final working day will be this Friday.

Several months ago, Weiss Hospital ceased its in-patient and emergency services after being removed from the Medicare program due to unacceptable conditions within the facility.

“From an operational standpoint, our immediate priorities are the continuity of care of Oak Park residents and affected patients, as well as the employment status for the many dedicated workers impacted by this suspension” Oak Park Village Manager Kevin J. Jackson said in a statement. “As longstanding Oak Park institution, West Suburban Medical Center has been certainly a lifeline for our residents and neighbors across the community. This interruption of services is not easy for anyone to navigate, and the Village will do what it can within its purview to minimize disruptions for those affected by the suspension.”
