Adolescence skyrocketed to the top spot on Netflix’s Top 10 list just a week after its release on March 13th. The film’s popularity and viewer numbers have remained strong ever since.
Created and written by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham, the latter of whom also stars in the 4 episode miniseries, this surprise smash centers around the arrest of 13 year old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) for the murder of one of his classmates. While being investigated, it is revealed he has been influenced by toxic online culture that sends ripple effects through his small town and family. Each episode is shot in one continuous take, with no cuts or CGI blending in shots together.
With dynamic camerawork and a gripping, relevant story, it’s no wonder that this show has become one of the more popular ones of 2025 so far. So will there be a season 2 of Adolescence? Here’s what we know so far.

The miniseries is split into 4 one hour episodes, all of which are currently streaming on Netflix.
Will there be a Season 2 of Adolescence?
As of now, Netflix has not greenlit the show for a second season. But it’s not like a Season 2 is completely out of the question despite an only 4 episode season. Netflix has done similar treatment to other limited series, such as Beef.
In an interview with Elle, Stephen Graham said “One of our aims was to ask, ‘What is happening to our young men these days, and what are the pressures they face from their peers, from the internet, and from social media?’ And the pressures that come from all of those things are as difficult for kids here as they are the world over.” Just from the premise of the affects of social media on young men could lead to a ton of different storylines. Even though Jaime’s story is fictional, Graham says that it is inspired by real life stories of crime and knife violence.
So even if the creators intended for Jamie’s story to only last for this 4 episode mini series, with it’s popularity continuing to rise, Netflix may not have a choice but to give the fans what they want.
