WASHINGTON — The 2025 Home Run Derby, one of the biggest events of the MLB All-Star week, kicks off Monday night. 

Eight of the league’s best sluggers will be swinging for the fences inside Truist Park in Atlanta. 

What time is the 2025 Home Run Derby?

The Home Run Derby begins Monday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN and ESPN2. 

Here are this year’s eight participants and the order in which they’ll bat in the first round, according to MLB.com: 

  1. James Wood, Nationals
  2. Brent Rooker, Athletics
  3. Junior Caminero, Rays
  4. Oneil Cruz, Pirates
  5. Byron Buxton, Twins
  6. Jazz Chisholm Jr., Yankees
  7. Cal Raleigh, Mariners
  8. Matt Olson, Braves

What channel is the Home Run Derby on? 

The event will be shown live on ESPN and ESPN2. 

Who pitches for the Home Run Derby?

Each player participating in the Home Run Derby gets to select their own pitcher. This year, the selections include family members and current or former coaches. 

  1. James Wood – Nationals third-base coach Ricky Gutierrez
  2. Brent Rooker – Joe Caruso
  3. Junior Caminero – Tampa Bay Major League field coordinator Tomas Francisco
  4. Oneil Cruz – Pirates Assistant coach and translator Stephen Morales
  5. Byron Buxton – Twins Third-base coach Tommy Watkins
  6. Jazz Chisholm Jr. – Stepfather Geron Sands
  7. Cal Raleigh – Dad, Todd Raleigh

Who won last year’s Home Run Derby?

Last year’s champion, Teoscar Hernandez, isn’t returning to the field this year, guaranteeing that a new champion will be crowned on Monday night. 

Most home runs at All-Star break

Seattle Mariners’ Cal Raleigh leads the MLB this year with 38 home runs before the 2025 All-Star break. He was just one shy of tying the all-time record set by Barry Bonds, who had 39 at the break in 2001, according to ESPN. 

The New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge isn’t far behind Raleigh this year with 35 home runs.
