‘The Alto Knights’ Comes to Digital, But When Will the Robert De Niro Movie Be Streaming on Max?

It seems like having two Robert De Niros in the movie The Alto Knights wasn’t enough to attract audiences, as the film is set to be available on digital platforms starting tomorrow, merely three weeks after its theatrical release.

The movie, directed by the Oscar-winning Barry Levinson and penned by the Oscar-nominated Nicholas Pileggi (known for co-writing Goodfellas), offers a nostalgic experience for fans of mob films. De Niro portrays two characters in the movie, Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, who were real-life mob bosses in the 1950s New York City Italian mafia. If you’re a fan of The Sopranos, this might be the perfect film for you.

Aside from De Niro, the movie also features Debra Messing, Cosmo Jarvis, Kathrine Narducci, and Michael Rispoli. The Alto Knights faced multiple delays in its release, resulting in it spending only a brief three weeks in theaters, where it struggled to reach $10 million in global earnings. Warner Bros. might aim for better success with the premium digital release. However, keep in mind that the movie is likely to become available for streaming on Max for free by this summer, so consider that before making a purchase.

Where to watch The Alto Knights movie online:

The Alto Knights will be available to buy or rent on digital platforms on Friday, April 11. You’ll be able to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $24.99 to buy, and $19.99 to rent. If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to view after hitting “play.”

The Alto Knights is not yet available on a subscription-based streaming service, but we do expect to see The Alto Knights streaming on Max eventually, because The Alto Knights is a Warner Bros. movie, and Max is the streamer owned by Warner Bros.

When will The Alto Knights be streaming on Max?

The Alto Knights Max streaming release date on has not yet been announced yet, but we can make an educated guess based on previous releases. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, for example, was released on PVOD two weeks after opening in theaters, and began streaming on Max on February 28, a little over two months after it was released in theaters. If The Alto Knights follows a similar release pattern, you may see the movie streaming on Max around late May or early June 2025.

But that’s pure speculation. The Warner Bros. home releases have varied by title. In the meantime, you can always catch The Alto Knights by buying or renting the movie online.
