'16 and Pregnant' star Whitney Purvis' son West dead at 16

“16 and Pregnant” star Whitney Purvis is mourning the loss of her son, Weston, who has died at age 16.

On Monday, the 33-year-old former reality TV star took to social media to express her deep feelings for her late son. In a heartfelt message, she shared that her beloved teenager had passed away earlier on that day.

Expressing her grief on Facebook, Purvis wrote, “Sharing this is incredibly difficult. My dear son, Weston, has left us. He was just 16 years old. Life can be so harsh and unjust. I am struggling to comprehend this tragedy.”

“Oh my baby is gone and I don’t know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true.”

Having been a part of the MTV reality show in 2009, Purvis went on to share, “How does one cope after the loss of a child? I am in shock, refusing to believe this reality. I wish it was all a bad dream. I would give anything to hug him again. The ache in my heart is beyond words.”

“God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can’t go on without you. Rest in Peace, my angel. You are gone too soon. April 2, 2009 – June 2, 2025,” she concluded.

While Purvis didn’t disclose her son’s cause of death, Weston’s stepmother, Amy Gosa, revealed he had been battling “several health issues,” including diabetes.

“He was not breathing, we attempted CPR and called an ambulance,” she wrote, adding that the family tried to wake Weston up at 7 a.m.

“The paramedics attempted it as well and took him to the hospital in Gordon County [Georgia] where he was pronounced dead.”

“We are completely heartbroken and in shock. It was so unexpected,” she went on. “Losing a child is the most painful thing I have ever experienced and I hope I never experience it again.”

Gosa went on, “He was the most amazing son I could have asked for. He was brilliant, smart, funny and had so much potential in life. It doesn’t feel real.

“Please keep our family and Whitney in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn such a brilliant amazing life that was our son. Thank you.”

She revealed that an autopsy will be performed in the coming days.

Purvis, for her part, shared a follow-up Facebook post later on Monday, which included a photo of her with Weston.

“Rest in Peace, my baby Weston. I love you forever, precious. I’ll never understand why life has to be so cruel. You’ll always be my baby,” she wrote.

Purvis had welcomed Weston with her then-boyfriend Weston Lewis Gosa during the first season of MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” in April 2009.

Purvis went on to welcome their second son, River, in 2014, however the couple had split shortly after.

The reality star went on to lose custody of both her children to their father after she was arrested in 2024 for failing to make child support payments, TMZ reports.

Weston Sr., for his part, had several run-ins with the law — including arrests for driving on a suspended license and smashing electronics.
