The victim had previously filed reports regarding her and the suspect’s prior interactions, the Lake City Police Department said in a press release.

LAKE CITY, Fla. — A Lake City woman was arrested early Friday morning for pointing a gun at a woman with a “history of ongoing disputes between them,” according to the Lake City Police Department.

Justina Ivey, 19, faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of improper exhibition of a firearm.

On Friday at approximately 12:42 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Southeast Monroe Street and Southeast Ermine Avenue after the police department received a call about an altercation.

When officers arrived, they detained two women while the incident was being investigated.

A woman at the scene identified one of the detained women as Ivey, police said in a press release. The woman told police Ivey had a gun and pointed it at her, according to the release.

“She stated there was a history of ongoing disputes between them and that she had previously filed reports regarding their interactions,” the release states. “She reported observing a green light directed at her, which she believed was coming from a firearm in Ivey’s possession. She also referenced prior sightings of the weapon in Ivey’s social media posts.”

A witness confirmed the account, stated that she saw Ivey holding a gun with a green light attachment, and told police that “a minor” was present in a nearby vehicle during the incident, according to police.

Officers later recovered the gun described by the victim and witness. The police department said additionally, cell phone footage provided by witnesses showed green lights being pointed at individuals during the incident.

“Gun violence has no place in our community,” Chief of Police Gerald Butler said in the release. “The Lake City Police Department maintains a zero-tolerance policy for individuals who endanger the safety of others through the unlawful use or display of firearms. We will continue to act swiftly to hold offenders accountable and to ensure the safety of Lake City’s citizens and visitors.”
