The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says the woman who was between 60 and 70 years old, was shot in the head.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman was shot and killed at a block party on Jacksonville’s Mid-Westside Friday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., JSO Sgt. Steve Rudlaff said a ShotSpotter activation went out” in the 1100 block of Grothe Street.
When a patrol officer arrived on scene, according to Rudlaff, they found the woman who was between 60 and 70 years old, shot in the head.
Rudlaff said members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then arrived on scene and pronounced the woman dead.
“Initial investigation reveals that there was a block party with over 100 people in attendance at the intersection of Grothe Street and Eaverson Street,” Rudlaff said. “The victim was found shot sitting in a chair on the sidewalk.”
Rudlaff further stated that detectives canvassed the area for surveillance video and witnesses.
