PROVO, Utah (ABC4) A 53-year-old Provo man is in custody after police found a dead body in a shed behind an apartment complex near 700 West and Heather Lane.

Officers with the Provo Police Department were called to the scene around 4:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about the body, according to court documents. When officers arrived, they reported finding Arthurio Aurelio Carrion in the front yard and two locked sheds in the back.

When officers asked what they would find in the shed, Carrion allegedly replied, “A dead body.”

Police said the “smell of decomposition was plain” once the shed was open. Inside, officers reportedly found the body of a woman, identified as Carrion’s former girlfriend Lesa Hyde. The Springville Police Department said Hyde had been missing since December.

“We hadn’t had a reason to come to this location,” Janna-Lee Holland with Provo PD told ABC4.com. “We followed up from the phone call that we received yesterday.”

A witness told investigators he had been called by Carrion to the apartment complex just the day before. Carrion allegedly said he had “done something wrong,” allegedly nodding toward the shed. Witnesses said Carrion also said he “pulled a Rick,” which police say references a family member previously convicted for murdering his girlfriend.

As he was being arrested, Carrion allegedly uttered that he “should have never told that snitch,” later blaming a police officer who previously arrested Carrion for domestic violence.

Jacob Workman visits the area often, and said the arrest of Carrion “took [him] by surprise.”

“Nothing came across like that there was even anything wrong. It was just another day for him,” Workman told ABC4.com. “All of a sudden, an hour later, hey, there’s a body in the shed.”

Carrion is now being held in the Utah County Jail where he faces first-degree felony murder. Court records show he has been ordered to be held without bail, pending a pretrial hearing.
