Convicted in March, the Brunswick District Attorney’s Office said Alexandrea Jones will be sentenced in June for the 2023 stabbing.
BRUNSWICK, Ga. — A Brunswick woman was found guilty last month of stabbing a woman at a child’s birthday party in 2023, according to the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
Alexandrea Jones was convicted on one count of aggravated battery in Glynn County Superior Court in March. A press release detailing her conviction was shared with First Coast News Tuesday. She will be sentenced in June.
On Sept. 24, 2023, Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) officers responded to the Lanes N’ Games bowling alley on New Jesup Highway regarding a stabbing. An officer observed the victim bleeding from the area of her mouth. Police said she had organized a birthday party for her 1-year-old child.
There were at least 30 people in the room, including family members of both the victim and Jones’ family, the release said.
During the party, a fight broke out between the victim and Jones. After an investigation, GCPD said Jones used a sharp object to slice the victim’s face open from the right corner of her mouth up into her right cheek area.
At the trial, the victim testified that she had uninvited Jones and Jones’ mother from her child’s birthday party “because of their temperament.”
Also during the trial, the state presented photos and video surveillance footage that showed Jones was engaged with the victim during the altercation.
Assistant District Attorney Kelvin Ansong and Assistant District Attorney Bryan Roy tried the case over two days.
