CALLAHAN, Fla. — A woman was arrested on attempted murder charges after a shooting incident in Callahan, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office said a witness called 911 around 6:45 a.m. Monday after a shooting on Pickett Street in Callahan.

When officers arrived, they said they found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the road. First responders immediately transported the victim to a local hospital where they remained in critical condition Tuesday.

According to the sheriff’s office, a witness told officers the suspect and the victim were arguing outside a house on Pickett Street when the confrontation escalated and moved into the road. That’s when investigators said Murphy shot the victim in the back before shooting again at them as they lay on the ground.

Murphy was arrested and is in jail on a more than $1 million bond.
