FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) – A woman accused of child abuse in Farmington is now dead.

The Farmington Police Department said they are investigating the death of 36-year-old Patricia Madrid. Details are limited but they said there was a shooting just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Medical personnel took Madrid to San Juan Regional Medical Center where she died from her injuries.

Madrid and her husband, 59-year-old Jammy Jackson were arrested earlier last week after police said they left a 15-year-old in a chicken coop for long periods of time and exposed to extreme weather conditions. Police said the teen was only allowed to use the bathroom twice a day and was fed packaged ramen noodles while her siblings ate whatever they wanted. The pair were charged with 14 counts of child abuse.

Police released video of a person of interest in the shooting. They believe the men left on a bike headed east on Navajo St. toward Lincoln Ave. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 505-599-1068.
