Woman Shot Outside Virginia GOP HQ in Richmond, Party Says

A woman was shot outside the Republican Party of Virginia’s headquarters in Richmond on Thursday afternoon, only days before Election Day, state Republican officials said.

The gunfire was reported at about 1:45 p.m. near the entrance to the Obenshain Center, in the 100 block of East Grace Street in downtown Richmond, local station WTVR reported.

The Virginia GOP said in a post on X that Richmond’s first responders reached the scene within minutes and that every party employee was safe.

Officials added that they had seen no evidence linking the shooting to the party’s work or activities.

“The proximity of this event notwithstanding, we have no indication that the shooting was related to the operations of the Republican Party of Virginia,” the post said.
