JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a shooting on Jacksonville’s Westside after a woman was struck by gunfire while fleeing an argument early Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to the 8200 block of 118th Street at approximately 1:41 a.m., according to JSO. The injured woman was later driven to a local hospital by a family member.
Medical personnel determined at the hospital that she had been shot in the left ankle, investigators said.
According to the preliminary investigation, the woman was walking along 118th Street when she heard people arguing in the yard of a home she could not identify. When gunshots rang out, she began running from the area.

As she fled, the woman felt sudden pain in her foot and realized she had been hit by a bullet, JSO said.
The woman told investigators she did not see the people involved in the dispute and could not provide a description or other information that might identify a suspect.
“At this time, investigators have limited information, but believe this is an isolated incident,” JSO Sgt. Richardson said. Crime Scene Detectives processed the area for evidence, while detectives from the Robbery and Violent Crime Unit interviewed witnesses, searched for surveillance footage and pursued additional leads.
