It’s common for male celebrities to stand taller than their female counterparts in real life, but there are notable exceptions to this trend.
Many women confidently stride down the red carpet, surpassing their male partners in height.
Historically, taller women were often referred to as ‘Amazonian’ or described using the term ‘viraginous,’ derived from the Latin word virago, meaning ‘man-like maiden.’
However, as society progresses, these terms have fallen out of favor, with the public becoming increasingly unconcerned about height differences where women are taller than their partners.
A study from the Netherlands indicates that only about 4% of women are taller than their male partners, 92% of couples feature taller men, and about 4% of heterosexual pairs are of equal height.
Zendaya, Cameron Diaz, Chrissy Teigen, Elle Fanning, Gwendoline Christie are just some of the few female stars who are taller than their mates.
There is also Eniko Hart, Tina Fey, Devon Windsor, Erin Darke (who dates Daniel Radcliffe), Clare Grant (who is wed to Seth Green), Stacy Keibler and Rhea Durham (her husband is Mark Wahlberg).
TOM HOLLAND AND ZENDAYA
Holland: 5ft 8in; Zendaya: 5ft 10in
In 2021, Tom Holland and Zendaya joked about their height difference during a chat with Graham Norton on his BBC show.
The Spider-Man icon and his girlfriend and co-star discussed how their differing heights meant Holland, at a reported 5ft 8in, couldn’t catch Zendaya, who is taller, during a stunt for their Spider-Man film.
Zendaya, who plays Mary Jane in Spider-Man: No Way Home, said: ‘Spider-Man swings us on top of a bridge… and he places me there. We eventually jump off.
‘He’s supposed to gently place MJ on the bridge and walk away from her. Obviously because of our height difference, if we’re on the same point…’

This caused the crowd to erupt into laughter, including presenter Graham.
Holland explained how the stunt actually worked. Playfully, he said: ‘Zendaya would land – and I’m the superhero! I’m supposed to look cool!’ Standing up, he added: ‘I would stand up like this and my feet would swing beneath me and then she would catch me like this!’
The actress explained that her beau was actually quite fond of being caught: ‘You’re actually very lovely about it. You’re like, “Oh my God, thank you!”‘ Delighting the crowd with his humor, he insisted: ‘It’s so nice to be caught for a change!’
CAMERON DIAZ AND BENJI MADDEN

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden, who have been together since May 2014, are another couple that have a height difference.
The height does not seem to be a problem for the lovebirds who have been wed since 2015 as she often slips into high heels when out with her spouse; in other words, she is not trying to hide her height.
The couple have been nesting in recent years as they have daughter Raddix and son Cardinal.
